Who is Calling the Tune Today?

"A poet is a nightingale who sits in darkness and sings to cheer its own solitude with sweet sounds; his auditors are as men entranced by the melody of an unseen musician, who feel that they are moved and softened, yet know not whence or why.”
- Percy Shelly, "Defense of Poetry"

  1. What a cool Dylan song!
Z's post a while back got me thinking about and listening to Dylan again.

On poetry: I am SO grateful. Were it not for the poet, I'd not know how I feel. :-)

  2. I love poets, too. I just don't that they make good "Statesmen".

  3. I agree. Their romanticism makes for good poetry, but bad governing.

  4. Many today would imagine yesterday's "statesmen" to be as reckless... I do not count myself amongst them.
