  5. Fascinating!
So you'd prefer a society in which women allow men to talk down to and condescend on a regular basis? My way or the highway? Is that what you want for your daughter?

How is it that in standing up for myself (walking away from poor behavior), I'm demasculating you?
Unless that is...you consider poor behavior to be masculine.
    Reverting to type again?
But wait...this conversation is way above my level of understanding. I haven't read enough books on it. Pbththththt!

  7. you know, if you don't like 'the other' the way they are...at their essence...why bother with them?

  8. I have a thought. Seriously.

Do YOU think it would be possible to just be. just BE...without trying to force 'the other' to be something else...without trying to change 'the other'? I mean, you can share your world view, your politics / religion / opinions, anger, happiness, whatever. But...do you think it's possible?

I really want to know what you think.

    I think it's possible.

I never thought of myself as an optimist until recently.

But I think that we change ourselves based on things we see in others, so there's really no need to actively try to change others.

    just rambling.

Why do you keep trying to change me?

  10. ...so now you have your answer.

Moving on to more pertinent questions, "Do you think it would be wise to universally disarm ourselves and destroy all of America's WMDs?"

  11. Why do you keep trying to change me?
    ------
Of course I asked myself the same. I think that I try to change you in response to your attack on me....just trying to get you to see my point of view.

No, of course I don't think it would be wise to disarm ourselves and distroy all WMD's. It's creepy how a political ideal is being turned into a popculture catch-phrase.

    It's a pretty thought, though.

  12. I understand YOUR point of view. I WAS ATTACKED (no, not by you) also. NOW I understand my attackers point of view. THEY are NOT going to "disarm". THEY are going to continue to attack people who don't share their values. Capiche?

  13. ps - What do you think of "No first use/preemptive nuke strike pledges". Do you think they accomplish anything?

I don't know if you're talking about nations or people. Either way, no, those pledges accomplish nothing. It's something that people WANT to believe in so they won't have to deal with the anxiety of facing conflict.

I'd rather be confident in my ability to deal with conflict when it happens, because it WILL happen.
